My name is Kat, and I help equestrians feel amazing both in and out of the tack.
I am a Certified Athletic Therapist with additional training in somatic therapies, coaching and trauma informed care. My professional practice has been born out of my own experiences as a patient, athlete with various injuries and human moving through her own experiences.
Movement was my first love affair, which led me down a therapeutic path. From there I met the breath, the nervous system, bodywork and experienced what it means to be an impactful therapist from practitioners I met on the client side of the table, as well as experiences I have had as a practitioner. I have spent time as a personal trainer, medical equipment salesperson, first responder, group movement instructor and coach, athletic therapist, breathworker, mentor, somatic therapist and performance coach. I seem to call in the “complex” cases and as such work often with chronic illnesses, chronic pain, diagnosis’ such as fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, PTSD/C-PTSD, EDS, anxiety/depression, IBS, auto-immune based presentations, and many more undiagnosed chronic or complex symptoms. My practice has always been focused on education, seeing the whole person amidst all the parts and supporting my clients in enhancing their relationship to themselves amidst the chaos of life.
I currently run two practices: Evoke Body + Mind and RideWell Performance, seeing clients and teaching groups full time throughout western Canada. I also write regularly and have been featured as a columnist in a variety of publications and have presented keynotes and workshops at national level events throughout Canada. I am a coach and program coordinator at BP Sport Horses in Manitoba and a co-host of The Aligned Podcast.
For my equestrian clients, I specialize in functional return to sport after injury, acute injury or trauma rehabilitation, riding with anxiety, chronic pain, biomechanics focused coaching, specialized equitation coaching, continuing education for coaches and trainers, high performance support and development for professional athletes and I offer clinics and workshops across Canada. I strongly believe that our ability to be present in our body and practice awareness in and out of the saddle is what creates effective partnership with our equine counterparts.
My diverse background in therapeutics, athletics, trauma rehab and as an equestrian myself make me uniquely suited to supporting all kinds of equestrians towards feeling present and riding well, whatever that means for them.
